Humbles Wm. Lee Humbles died Friday night at the home of his brother, Adolphus Humbles, in Jacksontown, of consumption, aged 46. Deceased had served in the regular army several times and as a sergeant in the Ninth Cavalry had seen service among the Indians in the West. In between his enlistments he would return to Lynchburg and find employment as man of all work, and as such he was a useful and faithful servant. He is survived by his wife. ["Death of William L. WILLIAM LEE HUMBLES, a well known citizen of Campbell county, died at his home in Jacksontown, Friday evening at 10 o’clock. At the time of his death he was about 46 years of age. He enlisted in the U. S. Army, January 21, 1871. After serving in the 24th Infantry, 25th Infantry, 9th and 10th Cavalry, he was honorable discharged September 8, 1891. His wife survives him; also one daughter, Miss Bertha Stewart, also his brother, Mr. Adolphus Humbles. The funeral of Mr. WILLIAM LEE HUMBLES will take place SUNDAY afternoon at 3 o’clock, at the Brookville Baptist Church, Jacksontown. He will be buried in the family cemetery, (Jacksontown). Friends of the family are invited to attend.
