He lived at 1227 Knight Street in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was born in Oalvale September 18,1891 a son of Charles Wesley Shannon and Florilla Beau Cole Shannon. He was a member of the Methodist church. He was assistant foreman for 14 years for Coppers Coal Company. He was employed by G.D. Smith Lumber Company, Big Island, Va. at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Lindsey Shannon, two sons; Charles William Shannon of Chicago, Ill. and Curtis Douglas Shannon of Lynchburg, Va.; five daughters: Mrs G.D. (Sadie) Smith of Big Island, Va.; Mrs O.F. (Elizabeth) Lacy of Bedford, Va.; Mrs John L. (Irene) Sheffey, of Havoco,W.Va. ; Mrs. Ohara D. (Mary) Burnett, and Mrs. Richard A. (Blanche) Blankenship of Lynchburg, Va.; 29 Grandchildren, and 3 GreatGrandchildren; one brother, Clarence E. Shannon of Keystone, W.Va.; one sister , Mrs. James (Ada) Davis, of Portsmouth, Ohio. Funeral services will be held from the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Langhorn Road, tomorrow at 3:PM. Burial will follow in the Fort Hill Burial Park. The Rev. Eastel Biley, of Bluefield, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Joseph W. Thompson, of Lynchburg, Va. The body will remain at home until one hour prior to the services.
