Will of Joseph Akin, 1809 - Campbell Co. VA Campbell Co., VA Will Book 3, pages 186-187. Akins } Will } In the name of God Amen I Joseph Akin of the County of Campbell and state of Virginia being in sound mind and Judgment this 12th July 1809 do revoking all former wills make this writeing my last will and testament as follows in the anexed to wit, Section 1st I recommend my soul to the marcey of God that give it and my body to bestow on it a christian burial in the earth to the care of my friends having a lively faith of then being again reunited at a happy resurrection and of enjoying a happy eternity in this unites of my ever blesed redemer. Section 2d that all my Just debts be paid including funeral expences. Section 3d I leave unto my beloved wife Ann all my estate boath real and personal together with all the perishable property placing the utmost confidence in his that there will be no unlawful wast of the same during her natural life or widowhood. Section 4th my will is that whenever the death of my beloved wife happens or that she marries then my estate to be divided in the following manor to wit, Section 5th that my daughters Sarah Subbett Ibey Subbett and Marey Subbett and Betsey Ann Pucket for their children Betsy Ann Pucket is to have two shears out of 5 out of my estate the 3 former is to have one shear each, item I have let my son William Akin have two good horses one good Refel goon and two hundred acres of land on the waters of little fawling river and as he has got so well provided for he has no need of my estate more than what he has got as for son George Akin upon account of his bad behavoir to me and causing me smutch truble, I give and bequeath unto him two dollars paid by my legetees, I leave to Polly Caldwell Akin ten year ys old 1st child fifty dollars to be paid out of my estate by my legatees if she lives to fifteen years old and if not his brother William to have it at the experation of said time, Section 6th I do apoint and nominate my beloved wife Anne Akin Executrise and my friend Samuel Jordan Executor to this my last will and my two son in laws in the tenesee William Subbett and Charles Pucket to be garndeens to this my last will and I have interchangeably fixt my hand and seal this 13th of my 1809.
