CAMPBELL COUNTY, VA - WILLS - George Cock, 8 May 1818 ----¤¤¤---- Will of "George Cock" dated May 8, 1818, recorded Campbell County Circuit Court, Will Book 4, Page 308. In the name of God, amen, I, George Cock of the County of Campbell, being of good health and sound mine and disposing memory for which I thank God, but calling to mine the uncertainty of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath the same in manner following, this is to say - Item 1st I loan to my wife Judith Cock the following property (viz), Mathew, London, James, Ned, Salley, Silvy, Nancy, Elizabeth, and eede, all my tract of lands lying on the waters of Big falling River and Mollys Creek together with all my stock of every kind except what is herein after particularly disposed of for and during the term of her natural live and after her decease. It is my desire that my Executors herein after named may sell the same and the monies arrising form such sale to be divided into seven parts one of which parts to consist of five hundred dollars which I give to my son Chasteen Cock, thee residue to be divided into six equal parts which I give in manner following to my son John Cock I give one part, to my son George Cock, one part to my son Archibald Cock, one pat to my son Edmond Cock one part to my son Thos. Cock, one part to my son Boler Cock one part. Itm 2nd - Having given to my son William Cock such property as I intended for him I give him the sum of one dollar to him and his heirs forever. Itm, 3 Having given to my daughter Elizabeth Hurt such property as I intended for her I now give and bequeath to her heirs the sum of one dollar. Itm 4th Having given to my daughter Martha Fox such property as I intended for her I now give and bequeath to her the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever. Itm 5th Having given to my daughter Rebecca Sester such property as intended for her I how give and bequeath to her the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever. Item 6th Having given to my son Chasteen Cock such property as I intended for him I give and bequeath to him the sum of five hundred dollars which he will receive after the death of my wife which money is to be made out of such property as I have loaned to her during her natural life, the same being mentioned under Item first to him and to his heirs forever. Item 7th Having given to my son John Cock such property as I intended for him I give and bequeath to him one sixth part of the residue of the money arising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live - after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock to him and his heirs forever. Item 8th I give to my son George W. Cock one negro man named Henry and one young mare which mare is now called his, a bed and furniture which he is to receive when he becomes of age. Also I give to him one sixth part of the residue of the money arising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock, to him and his heirs forever. Item 9th I give to my son Archibald Cock one negro boy named Jones and a horse worth one hundred dollars a bed and furniture which he will receive when he becomes of age, also I give him one sixth part of the residue of the money arrising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock, to him and his heirs forever. Itm 10th I give to my son Edward Cock one negro boy named Absalom and a horse worth one hundred dollars, a bed and furniture which he is to receive when he becomes of age, also I give him on sixth part of the residue of the money arrising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live - after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock, to him and his heirs forever. Item 11th I give to my son Thomas Cock one negro boy named Sinosey and a horse worth one hundred dollars, a bed and furniture which he is to receive when he becomes of age. Also I give to him one sixth part of the residue of the money arising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock, to him and his heirs forever. Itm 12th I give to my daughter Charlotte Cock two negro girls named Eliza and Martha, a bed and furniture and good saddle and bridle to her and her heirs forever. Itm 13th I give to my son Bolar Cock two negro boys named Washington and Green which he is to receive when becomes of age. Also I give him one sixth part of the residue of the money arrising from the sale of such property as I have loaned to my wife during her natural live after taking from the sum of such money the five hundred dollars which I have bequeathed to my son Chasteen Cock, to him and his heirs forever. Item 14th I give to my daughter Sarah Cock two negro girls named Jane and Cecilia, a bend and furniture and a good saddle and bridle to her and her heirs forever. Itm 15th It is my desire that in case either of the negroes which I have herein before mentioned and bequeathed to y sever children herein before named should die before the death of my wife that there should be replaced to said child losing such negro one of equal value or the value thereof in money out of the legacy loaned to my wife. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons William Cock and George Cocke Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of May in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and eighteen. Will proved at Campbell County Court on May 11, 1821, by the oaths of Thomas Cock, Williston Talbot and David G. Talbot. The appraisal of the personal estate of Geroge Cock dated August 10, 1821 is recorded in Campbell County Will Book 4, at page 335.
