(Transcription) In the name of God amen I William Watkins of the County of Caroline being of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will & Testament in manner and form following to wit Item. I give to my beloved wife Rebecca all my slaves & their increase and likewise one half of all my personal property to her & her heirs forever. Item. I lend to my said wife all the remainder of my estates both real and personal during her natural life & after her decease I lend the said real estate to James Turner and his wife Molly during their natural lives & after their decease I give the said real Estate to their children to be equally divided amongst them. The other half of my personal estate (not above disposed of) I give to my sister Fanny Turner to her heirs forever, lastly I do appoint my trusty friends William Anderson, James Duvall Exors and my wife Rebecca Executrix to this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the Day of Augt one thousand eight hundred and seven Acknowledged in William Watkins (seal) the presence of Margaret Almand Mary Almand Wm. Duval I William Watkins of the County of Caroline do this eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred and twelve make and publish this Codicil to my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit That whereas I did some years ago execute a power of attorney for the purpose of selling a tract of land in the state of Kentucky upon the waters of Green River, belonging to me and not knowing whether the said land is sold or not and not wishing the said land to be considered a a part of my real estate in my said will I do, by this Codicil which is a part of my said Last Will and Testament, Give and bequeath, the proceeds of said land if sold, to my said wife and her heirs forever. And in the event of its not having being sold my desire is that it shall be sold as soon as possible and the money arising from shuch sale I will to my said wife & her heirs forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred & twelve.
