Goad Family Info - Carroll Co. VA When the cemetery book for Carroll County was compiled, the family cemetery of my grandparents was missed. William Asa "Acy" Goad married Roxie Anne Mabry in 1890 and built a house near Dugspur. When two infants died at birth, Asa buried them on a hillock overlooking their home. Later two adult daughters and an adult son were interred there and lastly Asa and Roxie themselves. They celebrated their seventieth marriage anniversary in the same house. Asa died the same year and Roxie followed two years later. The house burned ca 1985. To reach the cemetery and old home site, turn off SR 753 on SR764 south side. Interments include Garrett W. Goad (1898-1953) and Delphia Misti Tolbert (1913-1934) wife of Palmer H. Tolbert.; Oder V. Goad (1902-1926),; two infants born and died 1901 and 1904, all children of Asa and Roxie, William "Acy" (1866-1960), son of Wesley and Tabitha (Gardner) Goad ;Roxie Anne (Mabry) Goad (1872-1962), daughter of Winfield Scott and Mary (Largen) Mabry.
