Wilson ******************************************************************************** HENRY MORGAN GRAVE Buford C Wilson Buford_Wilson@Hotmail.Com There are three graves located on a hillside near Mills Creek, in Carroll County Virginia. The site is east of the Taylor Wood Subdivision with no prominent land marks for reference. For as long as I can remember this tract of land was called the “Painter Place”. My grandfather bought the land from Thomas C and Susie Painter on December 21 1915 and it has been in the Wilson Family since then. Thomas C Painter bought the land from William M Houseman and Philip P Kinzer on January 18 1881. This may have been part of the land owned by the old Scotsman, Thomas Blair, who was a Revolutionary War veteran. I can remember seeing the graves when I was a child, but they are lost now. In 1983-84 the timber on the land was cut and logged and the land reseeded with young pine trees. I haven’t been able to find them since then. Before he passed away, my father told me that one of the graves used to have a marker, but it had been gone for a long time. He said the name on the stone was Henry Morgan. I don’t know who this Henry Morgan was, but I suspect he probably was an early tenant farmer.
