Obituary for Elizabeth Mae McMillian Cline, 1922 - Carroll Co. VA Elizabeth Mae McMillian Cline passed away on February 11, 1922 in Winston-Salem (Forsyth County), North Carolina, where she had lived for a number of years. She was born on March 15, 1894, in Carroll County, Virginia, the daughter of Samuel Dudley McMillian and Sarah Ann McMillian; and the granddaughter of Joseph McMillian, Sr. and Nancy Ann Haynes, and of Captain James Lee McMillian and Sarah Jane McMillian. Elizabeth was married in 1915 to Raleigh Gordon Jefferson Cline, Sr., who survives, along with three children: Connie Beulah Cline, Raleigh Gordon Jefferson Cline, Jr., and James Ross Cline; her mother Sarah Ann McMillian; her grandmother Sarah Jane McMillian; three brothers: James Orville McMillian, Arnold Carew McMillian (and wife Georgia Belle Boyd McMillian), and James Hoke McMillian (and wife Mary Ruth Allen McMillian); three sisters: Iris McMillian Towe (and husband Albert Sidney Towe), Ulrica Rica McMillian Harrold (and husband Robert Sylvester Harrold), and Elsie Earnestine McMillian Thomas (and husband William Arthur Thomas); and twelve nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Samuel Dudley McMillian, and one sister Melissa Gray McMillian. Elizabeth was named after her great aunt Elizabeth McMillian Jones, the wife of Archibald Jones. She was affectionately called Bessie by those who knew and loved her. Her black hair and large brown eyes placed her well in the Carroll County McMillian clan. Her kindness to everyone will be remembered. Elizabeth will be buried in the McMillian Family Cemetery at Cana in Carroll County, Virginia.
