Obituary of Walter Booker Harrold, 1956 - Carroll Co. VA Walter Booker Harrold died on January 21, 1956. He was born in Carroll County, Virginia, May 13, 1871, the son of Enos Sylvester Harrold and Evalina [Allen] Harrold. He is the grandson of Elijah Harrold and Catherine Scott and of Robert Allen and Elvira Dean; great grandson of John Scott and Affirah Ayers, Carr Allen and Temperance Daniel, and Henry Harrison Dean, Jr. and Keturah Ayers; gg-grandson of Thomas and Catherine Scott, William Allen, Jr. and Ann Stuart, Nehemiah Daniel and Anna Lyon, Henry Harrison Dean, Sr. and Charity Beamer, and Elihu and Lydia Ayers. Book was married on February 7, 1894 to the former Lucy Ann McMillian, daughter of John McMillian and Martha Guynn; granddaughter of William A. McMillian and Annie Allen, and g-granddaughter of Stephen McMillian and Martha Blansett. Lucy (born November 8, 1872) died on January 23, 1937, in Surry County, North Carolina at the home of Arthur and Elsie [McMillian] Thomas. Walter Booker Harrold is survived by four daughters: Claudia [Harrold] Dawson (wife of Arthur Samuel Dawson, who died August 19, 1933, buried in the Harrold Cemetery in Carroll County), Luzena [Harrold] Dawson (and husband Claude Jack Dawson), Annie Marie [Harrold] Allen (and husband Foy Dexter (Deck) Allen), Gertie [Harrold] Edwards (and husband Robert Lee Edwards, son of Warren Edwards and Laura Teague; son-in-law Taylor Allen (son of Houston Allen) and husband of daughter Leona [Harrold] Allen, who died in 1927, buried at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son Howard Woodrow Harrold, who is buried in the Harrold Cemetery on Ward's Gap Road. Walter Booker Harrold will be buried in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at Cana, in Carroll County. This is the site of the final resting place of many members of the Harrold, McMillian, Haynes, and Guynn families. Submitted by William E.
