Obituary for Thomas C. Harrold, 1928 - Carroll Co. VA       

Thomas C. Harrold, age 43, died on Thursday December 6, 1928. He was 
accidentally killed in a granite quarry cave-in, crushed by rocks, in Mt. 
Airy North Carolina. Tom was born in 1885 in Carroll County, Virginia, the 
son of Enos Sylvester Harrold and Evalina Allen; grandson of Elijah Harrold 
and Catherine Scott and of Robert Allen and Elvira Dean; great grandson of: 
Carr Allen and Temperance Daniel, Henry Harrison Dean, Jr. and Keturah Ayers, 
John Scott and Affirah Ayers; gg-grandson: William Allen, Jr. and Ann Stuart, 
Nehemiah Daniel and Anna Lyon, Henry Harrison Dean, Sr. and Charity Beamer, 
Elihu Ayers and Lydia Owen; ggg-grandson: William Allen, Sr. and Mary Lewis, 
Robert Lyon, Peter Richard Beamer, Thomas Ayers, Sr. and Barbara Murphy, and 
of John Owen and Elizabeth Nichols.

Thomas was married January 25, 1912 to Elizabeth (Bessie) Vipperman, of 
Carroll County, Virginia, daughter of Marion Vipperman and Mary Ann Hall. She 
survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Arlis Everette Harrold/Harrell, Joseph 
Harrold, Marion Sylvestal Harrold, Charlie Thomas Harrold, and Carlis Yancey 
Harrold; daughter: Mary Evaline Harrold; brothers Walter Booker Harrold (and 
wife Lucy Ann [McMillian] Harrold), Robert Sylvester Harrold (and wife Ulrica 
Rica [McMillian] Harrold), and Joseph Elijah Harrold (and wife Matilda 
Elizabeth [Ayers] Harrold); sister, Rhoda Agnes [Harrold] Ayers (and husband 
William Madison Ayers); sister-in-law: Mary Bell [Barnes} Harrold, wife of 
Wesley David Harrold/Harrell.

He was preceded in death by: brother, Wesley David Harrold/Harrell, who died 
March 11, 1926, buried Harrold Family Cemetery.

Thomas Harrold was a good provider for his family. His loss will be felt by 
many.

After the funeral services he will be laid to rest on December 7.  in the 
Harrold Family Cemetery on Ward's Gap Road at Cana, in southern Carroll 
County, the resting place of four generations of Harrolds.
