Obituary of Elizabeth Vipperman Harrold, 1965 - Carroll Co. VA

Elizabeth [Vipperman] Harrold died on Thursday March 18, 1965. She was born 
in Carroll County, Virginia, on January 19, 1893, the daughter of Marion 
Vipperman and Mary Ann Hall.

She was married on January 25, 1912 to Thomas C. Harrold, son of Enos 
Sylvester Harrold and Evalina Allen, and grandson of Elijah Harrold and 
Catherine Scott and Robert Allen and Elvira Dean. Tom, age 43, was killed in 
a rock quarry accident in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, on December 6, 1928. He 
is buried in the Harrold Family Cemetery in Carroll County.

Elizabeth is survived by sons: Arlis Everette Harrold (and wife Madge 
Chandler Sawyer), Joseph Harrold (and wife Alice Fulp), Marion Sylvestal 
Harrold, Charlie Thomas Harrold (and wife Roxie Hill), Carlis Yancey Harrold 
(and wife Exie Gwynn), Dennis Harrell (twin), and Ray Harrold (twin); 
daughters Mary Eveline [Harrold] Hiatt (and husband Simon Lee Hiatt), and 
Ruth Etta Harrold (and husband James York).

Elizabeth was called Bessie by her family and friends. 
After her husband's sudden death, she showed great courage in raising her 
nine children.

After funeral services, she will be buried in the Montgomery Family Cemetery 
in Carroll County, Virginia.
