Obituary for Thomas Marion Harrold, 1924 - Carroll Co. VA Thomas Marion Harrold died on March 31, 1924. He was born in Patrick County, Virginia, on September 18, 1847, son of Elijah Harrold and Catherine Scott, grandson of John Scott and Affirah Ayers, and g-grandson of Elihu Ayers and Lydia Owen, and of Thomas and Catherine Scott. Mr. Harrold was married on December 24, 1868, to Mary Jane Allen, daughter of Robert Allen and Elvira Dean, and granddaughter of Carr Allen and Temperance Daniel and Henry Harrison Dean, Jr. and Keturah Ayers. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons: Albert Monroe Harrold (and wife Lou Wimmer Hiatt), Thomas Edgar Harrold (and wife Mary Frances Boyd), Oscar Marion Harrold (and wife Clara Boyd); daughters: Sarah E. Harrold (and husband Charles R. Childress, Embersetta A. Harrold (and husband William F. Childress), Laura H. Harrold (and husband Robert Hiatt); sister-in-law, Evalina Allen Harrold, and thirty-five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth E. Harrold, who died in 1888; and a brother Enos Sylvester Harrold, who died in 1918. Thomas Marion Harrold spend his whole life in Patrick County and Carroll County, Virginia. He was a respected citizen of the community. As a child he was a charter member of Mt. Bethel Moravian Church, the oldest Moravian Church in Virginia. Later he became a member of Willow Hill Moravian Church, another of the oldest Moravian churches in the state. After the funeral services, Mr. Harrold will be buried in the Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery, located in Southern Carroll County on Highway #670, which runs along the Patrick and Carroll County line.
