Obituary for Mary Jane [Allen] Harrold, 1926 - Carroll Co. VA Mary Jane [Allen] Harrold passed away at her home on March 11, 1926. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on October 14, 1850, daughter of Robert Allen and Elvira Dean, and granddaughter of Carr Allen and Temperance Daniel, and of Henry Harrison Dean, Jr. and Keturah Ayers, and g-granddaughter of William Allen and Ann Stuart, Nehemiah Daniel and Anna Lyon, Henry Harrison Dean,Sr. and Charity Beamer, and Elihu Ayers and Lydia Owen. She was married on December 24, 1868, to Thomas Marion Harrold, son of Elijah Harrold and Catherine Scott, and grandson of John Scott and Affirah Ayers. She is survived by sons: Albert Monroe Harrold (and wife Lou Wimmer Hiatt), Oscar Marion Harrold (and wife Clara Boyd); daughters Embersetta A.[Harrold] Childress (and husband William F. Childress), Laura V. [Harrold] Hiatt (and husband Robert Hiatt); sister: Evalina [Allen] Harrold, and 35 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son: Thomas Edgar Harrold in 1924; daughters: Sarah E. [Harrold] Childress (in 1925)and Ruth E. Harrold, who died in 1888; brother: William Henry Allen, who died in 1912; sisters: Embersetta Allen, Tabitha Ann (Faithy) Allen, Sarah Ann [Allen] Haynes, and Ruth Elizabeth Allen; and brother-in-law Enos Sylvester Harrold, who died in 1918. Mary Jane Harrold was a faithful member of Willow Hill Moravian Church in Carroll County, one of the oldest Moravian Churches in Virginia. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. After the funeral service, she will be buried in the church cemetery.
