Obituary of Abacilla [Haynes] McMillian, 1933 - Carroll Co. VA Abacilla Haynes McMillian passed away at her home on March 31, 1933. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on January 10, 1870, daughter of William H. and Hester [Banks] Haynes, and granddaughter of Richard and Mary Haynes. She was the niece of Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Haynes, of Company E, of the 29th Virginia Infantry, who was wounded at Drewery's Bluff, Virginia, and died May 30, 1864. In 1890, she married Joseph McMillian, Jr., who died October 8, 1928. She is survived by sons: Edgar F. McMillian (and wife Annie Clines), Samuel H. McMillian, and Roy McMillian (and wife Edith Jane McMillian); daughters: Cara Ida McMillian (and husband Esau J. Ayers), Lydia J. McMillian (and husband Garland Haynes), Mary E. McMillian (and husband Arthur S. McMillian), and Tina McMillian; brother-in-law Hardin Reynolds McMillian (and wife Agnes Gelominda Dawson); and a number of grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law: John H. McMillian, Haynes McMillian, husband of Carolina Guynn); and sister-in-law Sarah Ann McMillian (and husband Samuel Dudley McMillian). Abacilla and her husband Joseph McMillian owned a home on Lovill's Creek, where they had a farm and an orchard. Her loving nature will be remembered by family and friends. After the funeral services, she will be buried at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at Cana in southern Carroll County, the resting place of several generations of the McMillian, Haynes, and Guynn families.
