Obituary for Elizabeth Tahulda [Hiatt] McMillian, 1934 - Carroll Co. VA


Elizabeth Tahulda (Tallie) [Hiatt] McMillian died at her home July 18, 1934. 
She was born on February 18, 1859 in Carroll County, Virginia, the daughter 
of Franklin Hiatt and Catherine (Kitty) Chappell.   

She was married c. 1881 to Alexander McMillian, the son of Captain James Lee 
McMillian and Sarah Jane McMillian, and the grandson of Dudley McMillian and 
Elizabeth Hicks, and the great grandson of Abraham and Elizabeth McMillian 
and of Stephen McMillian and Martha Blansett.

She is survived by sons: Alfonso (Alf) Franklin McMillian (and wife Leona 
Vipperman), General Fletcher Lee (Littley) McMillian (and wife Ada Shadrack), 
James Walker McMillian (and wife Mary Margaret McMillian, daughter of Haynes 
McMillian and Caroline Guynn), Uriah Howard McMillian (and wife Ada A. 
Ayers); daughters Wreath Heather (Reath Heath) [McMillian] Haynes (and 
husband John W. (Jolin) Haynes, and Viola Virginia McMillian Bowman (and 
husband Rev. Cabel Bowman)

She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Samuel Dudley McMillian (and 
sister-in-law Sarah Ann McMillian), Richard Lee McMillian (and sister-in-law 
Louemma Catherine Edwards); and sister-in-law Martha Clementine [McMillian] 
Wisler, wife of Walter Ambrose Wisler.

After the funeral services, she will be laid to rest in the McMillian Family 
Cemetery at Cana in southern Carroll County, site of the burial of several 
generations of McMillians and Bowmans.
