Elizabeth (Payne) Edwards was born in Carroll County, Virginia in 1816. She
married Jeremiah Edwards (1818-1886) on 8 December, 1840. Jeremiah was born in
1818 to Annuel Edwards (15 December 1770-March 1846) and Mary Cox (1780-March
1846). Elizabeth and Jeremiah lived and farmed in Carroll County, VA throughout
their lives. 
She and Jeremiah had 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls; five of their children
later moved to Cladwell County, Missouri, one son moved to Otoe County, Nebraska
with his family (Ira Preston), one son migrated to California (Columbus
Jeremiah), and a daughter (Sarah Jane Virginia) moved late in life to the Black
Hills of South Dakota. 

Their children in order of birth: (1) James Walter Edwards (1841-1927), m.
(December 1866) Candace Edwards (1846-unknown), (2) Ira Preston Edwards
(1843-1939), m. (June 21, 1866) Elizabeth "Bettie" Ashworth (1842-1921), (3)
Celia Ellen Edwards (1845-unknown), m. (March 29, 1866) Creed Felts
(1834-unknown), (4) Floyd Isaac Edwards (1847-1932), m. (July 02, 1868) Sarah
Jane Williams, (5) Stephan Cornelius Edwards (1849-1921), m. (March 20, 1872)
Elizabeth Matilda Chappell (1849-1932), (5) Wiley Monroe Edwards (1851-1914), m.
(March 02, 1876) Ellen Valentine Burcham, (6) Kenny L. Edwards (1853-1918), m.
(January 03, 1877) Louisa Rebecca Schuyler (1860-1935), (7) Sarah Jane Virginia
Edwards (1855-1931), m. (December 23, 1880) Alexander Amburn (1847-<1931), (8)
Julia Ann Catherine Edwards (1857-1944), m. (December 12, 1878) LeGrand Stone
(1852-1939), (9) Elizabeth Rosa Caroline Edwards (1859-unknown), m. (January 04,
1877) Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Edwards (1853-1930), (10) Columbus Jeremiah
Edwards (1861-1931), m. (January 27, 1887) Martha Frost and (11) Candace Edwards
(1865-unknown). 

The accompanying photograph is undated, measures 16"x20" and was located in the
home of Leah Bernice Hall Esteb and Harold F. Esteb in a large steamer trunk
(Kingston, Caldwell County, Missouri). On the back side in large script reads,
"Mrs. Jeremiah Edwards." Next to her name in a different hand is, "Grandmother".
The photograph incurred damage over the years by mice  (scratches and teeth
marks can be seen across the face of the photograph).
