Will of Archibald Akers, 1898 - Carroll Co. VA March 30, 1898 Know all men by these presents that I, Archibald Akers of Carroll County, Va. being weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory, do make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testaments made by me. First - My daughter Martha is the owner of one cow, one mare, one bureau, one sewing machine, one bed and some bed clothes, and four head of sheep and lest any doubt arise as to her ownership to said property, I hereby release all claim to the same and bequeath all interest I may have in said property to my said daughter Martha. Second - It is my will that all of my personal property of which I may dispose be kept by my wife, Martha F. Akers and my two daughters Martha & Emeline and used by them for their comfort and support during the lives of my wife and my daughter Emeline and when they are both dead, it is my will that my said personal property be equally divided among all my children. Third - It is my will that my wife and two daughters above named shall have their bread from the profits and proceeds of my gristmill during the lives of my wife and daughter Emeline, and the residue of the profits and proceeds of said mill which shall arise during their life time, I give to the children of my son Garland L. Akers. Fourth - It is my will and desire that after the death of my wife and daughter Emeline, that the children of my son, Garland L. Akers, now born and which may be hereafter born in lawful wedlock, shall have my gristmill with all its fixtures, easements, waterpower & c; and if a deed which I have heretofore made to my wife and children shall be so construed as that said mill passes under the deed then I request the grantees in that deed to modify it as to allow the provisions of this will as to the mill, to be carried into effect.
