In obedience to an order of the worshipfull Court of Charles City County I have taken the estate of William Maynard ded’d found on his plantation, which estate is Inventoried as follows to wit, one negro woman named Judy, and offered her for public sale on the day appointed for the sale of the said deceased Estate, and John Christian forbid the sale of her, claiming her from an instrument of writing made to him by the said William Maynard decd which said writing will more fully appear on the Records of Charles City County Court, also two feather beds and furniture, and the sale forbid by ditto as per ditto Four cows and two yearlings the sale forbid by ditto as per ditto one horse and one mare and colt, the sale for bid by ditto ditto. 1 old pinetable sold at public auction to E. Maynard £0.1.0 an old wheel and cards to Elizabeth Maynard 0.2.9 2 ??? china dishes and 6 plates ditto 0.6.0 2 old Iron pott hooks Rack & frying pan ditto 0.6.0 1 water pail, piggin, old tea kettle and coffee pott ditto 0.1.6 2 hoes a small harrow tooth and axe ditto 0.7.8 1 old looking glass ditto. 0.0.9 1 Flat Iron 6d 2 pieces of pig Iron 1/1 ditto 0.1.7 1 earthen pott 6d. ditto 0.0.6 1 grind stone 3/1 1 oyle stone 6/ ditto 0.9.1 a lot of carpenters tools to Wm. M. Christian 1.0.0 1 Forthcoming bond of Jno. Bell’s & Joshia Knibb 3.10.6 ---------------- £6.7.5 The under written accounts &c. was lately put into my hands by John Rogers to wit; one bond dated the fourth of September 1776 against John Gregory and Ambrose Jackson £7.14.6 An account on a piece of paper against John Colgin for £86.15.9 and on application to the said Colgin he says there is nothing due on it for the said deceased William Maynard departed this life in his debt this account is dated in the year 1786 One account against Judith Harwood with her acknowledged on the back for £3.11.2 but she says she has paid him since, the date is 1796 September. An account against Elizabeth Gregory dated 1796 amounting to £6.14.3 one account against John Tyler dated 1796 amounting to £8.14.6 but on application to the said Tyler he says that the settled since then and has is bond for money due him. At a Court held for Charles City County at the Courthouse on Thursday the twentieth day of June 1799 The aforewritten account was this day returned into Court boy Joseph Varden Shff. and ordered to be Recorded.
