His parents were: David Flournoy Copal & Susan Anna Chisum-Copal of Saxe, Va] This marker is located near his brother's grave (Dee R. Copal b. 30 Mar 1894 d. 11 Jun 1932 His complete name was: David Ramsey Copal (Dee) was his nickname. Parents: David F. & Susan A. Copal of Saxe, Va. This marker is located directly behind the church under a large tree. ********************************************************************** David & Susan COPAL 1857-1944 1861-1948 David Flournoy COPAL was born in Charlotte Co., Va, on Feb. 14, 1859 (taken from birth records in Charlotte Court House). He died in 1944. His parents were Abraham Beauregard COPAL of Germany & Prudence Newcomb-COPAL of Charlotte Co., Va. Susan Anna Chisum-COPAL was born in 1861 in Charlotte Co., Va. Her parents were Fleming & Mildred Chisum. She died in 1948. David F. Copal & Susan A. Chisum-Copal were married in Charlotte Co. on Jan. 8, 1884. They raised their family in Saxe, Va. This gravestone is located in the cemetery at Ash Camp Baptist Church, in Keysville, Va. (Charlotte Co.) Their grave is located behind the church, under a large tree, with the graves of 2 of their sons. John S. COPAL & Dee R. COPAL. ********************************************************************** This gravestone reads: Joseph S. LINDSEY Co.I 44th VA INF C. S. A. Joseph S. LINDSEY was born ABT. 1837 in Charlotte Co., Va. His mother was Nancy LINDSEY. Joseph was a bricklayer who served as a Confederate Soldier in the VA 44th Infantry -Co.I, "The Mossingford Rifles" during the Civil War. He served along with his father-in-law, Abraham COPAL, of Germany. Joseph married Sarah Ann Clementine COPAL on Aug. 2, 1860. Sarah was also born in Charlotte Co., Va. Joseph died on Aug. 4, 1912 in Keysville, Va. Joseph S. Lindsey & part of his family are buried in the cemetery at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, Va. (Charlotte Co., Va) He is buried on the knoll in the center of the cemetery located on the left side of the church. This seems to be the "older" part of the cemetery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This gravestone reads: Sarah Ann Copal Lindsey 1844-1936 Sarah Ann Clementine COPAL was born Sept. 5, 1843 (according to her death certificate) in Charlotte Co., Va. Her parents were Abraham Beauregard COPAL of Germany & Prudence NEWCOMB-COPAL of Charlotte Co., Va. Sarah married Joseph S. Lindsey on Aug. 2, 1860 in Charlotte Co. Sarah died on March 9, 1936 at the home of her son, Samuel L. Lindsey, in Lynchburg, Va. Sarah died of cancer. Sarah is buried near her husband at Ash Camp Baptist Church cemetery, at Keysville, Va. (Charlotte Co.) They are buried in the cemetery to the left of the church. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This gravestone reads: Joe David Lindsey May 27, 1876 - Aug. 3, 1934 Joe David LINDSEY was the son of Joseph S. Lindsey & Sarah Ann COPAL-LINDSEY of Charlotte Co., Va. Joe's widow, Jettie HOOD-LINDSEY, is buried in the family plot, near him. Joe is buried in the cemetery at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, Va. (Charlotte Co.) He was laid to rest between his parents, Joseph S. & Sarah A. LINDSEY. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This gravestone reads: Jettie Hood Lindsey wife of Joe David Lindsey Sept. 22, 1888 - July 3, 1962 "At Rest" Jettie was the widow of Joe David LINDSEY. Joe was the son of Joseph S. Lindsey & Sarah Ann Clementine COPAL-LINDSEY of Charlotte Co. Jettie is buried in the family plot, of her husband, in the cemetery at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, Va (Charlotte Co.) The LINDSEY family is buried in the cemetery to the left of the church, up on the knoll. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This gravestone reads: Son of S.L. & H.A. LINDSEY born Aug. 19, 1893 died Feb. 17, 1903 "Darling we miss thee our loved one" Edward Lindsey is this nine year old boy that was buried on Feb. 17, 1903. Edward LINDSEY was the son of Samuel L. & Hester A. LINDSEY. Edward is buried near his grandfather, Joseph S. Lindsey, C.S.A., in the family plot at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, Va. (Charlotte Co.) The cemetery is located to the left of the church. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WILLIAM DAVID LINDSEY May 4, 1916 - Dec. 2, 1968 At Rest William Lindsey is the son of Joe David Lindsey & Jettie Hood-Lindsey. William's grandparents were Joseph Samuel Lindsey & Sarah Ann Clementine Copal-Lindsey. ALL of their graves are located in the Ash Camp Baptist Church Cemetery in Keysville, Charlotte Co., VA The family plot is located on the top of the knoll in the cemetery to the left of the Church. ********************************************************************** Our Mother IVA MAE LINDSEY Oct. 24, 1907 Nov. 24, 1976 Iva Mae was the daughter of Joe David Lindsey & Jettie Hood-Lindsey. Her grandparents were Joseph S. Lindsey & Sarah Copal-Lindsey, of Charlotte Co., Va. ALL their graves are near each other, in the family plot at Ash Camp Baptist Church Cemetery in Keysville, Charlotte Co., VA. ********************************************************************** Father LUTHER H. LINDSEY Oct. 6, 1885 Jan. 27, 1949 Luther was the son of Joseph Samuel Lindsey & Sarah Ann Clementine Copal-Lindsey. Joseph was a bricklayer who served in the 44th VA Infantry-Co.I, as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War. Joseph served with his father-in-law, Abraham Beauregard Copal from Germany. Sarah, Luther's mother, was Abraham Copal & Prudence Elizabeth Newcomb- Copal's firstborn child. Luther was born with a TWIN sister, Virginia Lindsey. Luther married Sally Maude Collins. Luther & Sally are buried just below HIS parents at Ash Camp Baptist Church Cemetery in Keysville, Charlotte Co., VA ********************************************************************** Mother SALLY C. LINDSEY May 30, 1887 Apr. 19, 1965 Sally Maude Collins-Lindsey married Luther H.
