H. Jeffress and wife Sallie B. Jeffress and the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, RECORDED IN DEED BOOK 37, PAGE 136, CHARLOTTE- CO., VA This deed made this the 26th day of October, 1886, between E. H. Jeffess and Sallie B. his wife of Charlotte County and State of Virginia of the one part and James H. Davis, John H. Daniel, Branch D. Waddell, Samuel T. Spencer, George W. Redd Jr. Trustees of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollars cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said E. H. Jeffress and Sallie B. his wife grant, sell, and release unto the said James H. Davis, John H. Daniel, Branch D. Waddell, Samuel Spencer, Geo. W. Redd Jr, Trustees of a certain lot or parcel of land lying in Prince Edward County, Virginia, and bounded as follows, beginning at a stone at the fork of the road, where the County Line Road intersects the Farmville Road, along the Farmville Road about 70 yards to a stone, thence in an easterly direction about 85 yards to a stone. Thence South east to a stone on the County Line Road, thence along same to the beginning and contains one acre more or less. The said James H. Davis, John H. Daniel, Branch D. Waddell, Samuel T. Spencer, Geo. W. Redd Jr. Trustee, and their successors to have and hold said lot of land for the uses and purposes of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. When the above described lot of land ceases to be used for the purposes of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, the said land reverts to original owner. The above named Trustees and their successors however, are retaining the right to remove the house on said lot of land and the said E. H. Jeffress and Sallie B. his wife do covenant that they will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed. Given under our hands and seals this day and year above written, E. H. Jeffress (seal) S. B. Jeffress (seal) State of Virginia County of Charlotte, to vht: 1, John R. Bailey, a Notary Publick in and for the County aforesaid do certify that E. H. Jeffress whose name is signed to the within deed bearing date 26th day of Oct. 1886, personally appeared before me in my county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act, and I certify that Sallie B. Jeffress, the wife of E. H. Jeffress, whose name is signed to the within deed, personally appeared before me and being examined by me apart from her husband acknowledged the same to be her act and declared that she had wilingly executed ... and does not wish to retract it.
