VA Deed Bk 9 1801-1803 pg 45 Roberson from Roberson This indenture this twenty seventh day of January in the year of Eighteen hundred and one, between Jonathan B. Roberson and Rhoda Roberson his wife of the county of Charlotte of the one part and Henry Roberson of Lunenburg County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jonathan B. Roberson and Rhoda Roberson for and in consideration of four hundred and fifty pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Henry Roberson at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents. These presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge both bargained sold ........ and firmly make over unto the said Henry Roberson and his heirs forever one certain tract piece, or parcel of land and plantation containing one hundred and ninety one acres and three quarters be the same more or less Situated lying and being in the county of Charlotte on the Otter Creek and bluestone and bounded as followeth: Beginning at a poplar on Otter Creek thence a new line with said Henry Roberson North 29 degrees. West 169 poles to a white oak on Bluestone, Thence down the same as it meanders to Frances Barnes Sr corner white oad on the west side of Bluestone Creek, Thence north sixty four Degrees, West one hundred and twenty four poles to a white oak thence South twenty degrees. West along Francis Barnes Jr line to a Tommison Branch. Thence down said branch as it meanders to Bluestone Creek; Thence up said Creek as it meanders to the mouth of Otter Creek. Thence up said Creek as it meanders to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said one hundred and ninety one acres and three quarters of land with all the appurtenances to the said Henry Roberson and is heirs forever and Jonathan B. Roberson & Rhoda Roberson his wife for their heirs,....doth covenant and agree with the said Henry Roberson that the said Jonathan B. Roberson and Rhoda his wife will warrant and forever defend the before granted land with the appurtenances to the said Henry Roberson his heirs, assigns, forever. In witness whereof we the said Jonathan B. Roberson and Rhoda Roberson his wife hath to these presents set our hands and affixed our seals the day & date above written. Jonathan B. Roberson Rhoda Roberson Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of us Robert Moore, Archer Farley, Christopher Roberson Additional Comments: Roberson and Robertson seem to be used interchangeably in Charlotte Co Deeds. Since there are several Jonathan B. and Henry Robertsons, we're not sure which family this is. Henry Sr. had sons by both names, but they also had sons using these names.
