Whereas Daniel Marshall of Nottoway County agreed (If I mistake not) on the 26th
of January in the year of our Lord 1780 to pay me annually the sum of  12" 10" 0
In consideration that I give up to him one half of the Dower I was entitled to
in the Estate of my deceased husband & has not as yet paid any part of what has
become due and has refused to do it.

Now know all men by these presents that I do hereby transfer and assign to my
Grandson, Garland Thompson Watkins the full amount of my claim against the said
Daniel Marshall or whatever may be recovered against him by ....it be necessary
& do hereby give the said Garland Thompson Watkins full power & authority to
receive for his own benefit the amount of my said claim from the said Daniel
Marshall and from any  person unto whose  hands it may come by Execution or
otherwise. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & afixed my seal this
16th day January one thousand Seven hundred & ninety Seven.

This deed was proved in court by the oath of James W. Chillan (or McClellan?),
Samuel Dejarnett and Anthony Hancock to the act & deed of the said Mary Ann
Thompson & ordered to be recorded.  Thomas Read.

Additional Comments:
NOTE: Believe this to Mary Ann  Oliver who married Isham Thompson, s/o Sarah
Farley and Robert Thompson.  Isham's daughter, Jane, married Robert Watkins and
they are parents of the Grandson Garland Thompson Watkins.
