Below is a sworn statment from Obadiah Hendrick and others as regards to the 
eligibility of Daniel Hendrick to a Revolutionary war pension. I believe this 
Daniel Hendrick is the father of Daniel Hendrick jr who married Eliza Ann 
Cary/Carey dau. of Richard Cary both of Charlotte Co Va married apr.2 1832.

Who is this Obadiah?

The statment below is in Daniel Hendrick's pension file at NARA, words in ( )'s 
are very hard to read, the xxxx's mean totally illegible.

Also Daniel was born in Amelia Co 1761

I Obadiah Hendrick of the county of Prince Edward and state of Virginia, do 
hereby certify i am (was) 74 years old the 24th of (Sept) last, that i was a 
soldier of the Revolutionary war + am now drawing a pension, and that Daniel 
Hendrick of the county of Charlotte and state of Virginia served as a militiaman 
in the Revolutionary war, three tours, one at Chesterfield Court House, under 
xxxx General Lawson, Col. Henry Skipwith + Capt. William Finney. One at Guilford 
old Court House, under general Lawson, Col. Beverly Randolph + Capt Robert 
Hudson + one at Maybin (Maubin?) Hill under General Lawson, Col Henry Skipwith 
and Capt William Finney. Given under my hand this 4th day of February 1833

This day Obadiah Hendrick personally appeared before me a justice of the Peace 
for the county aforsaid and made oath that the above certificate is true xxxx 
best of his knowledge and belief and i certify that the said Obadiah Hendrick is 
a credible witness and that i believe he is of sufficient age to have had 
personal knowledge of the service of Daniel Hendrick at the time (of his service 
xxxx ?) given under my hand this 4 th day of February 1833

I Daniel Hendrick X hereby certify that (i enlisted?) in the service, 
known(proven?) by Obadiah Hendrick in the above certification. I went as a 
volunteer under Capt Paulding Anderson and Col (A/G? xx B) Giles of Amelia 
County, to Petersburg, where we were stationed awhile and from there we went to 
the nieghborhood(sp) of old Williamsburg and was thence discharged.

We whose names are hereto subscribed, take (pleasure?) (in?) certifying that we 
have known Daniel Hendrick of the county of Charlotte for many years, and 
believe him to be a man of truth and honesty and(wholly?) (respected?) and 
(beloved?) by his acquaintances - He is very poor and old, and have every reason 
to believe he was such an age as to have been a soldier in the Revolutionary 
war, and verily think he was in the service a good deal. He has always 
maintained a good character -

and seal this 6 th day of May 1833 -
