Anderson S. Elam Marriage Record - Charlotte Co., Va. Submitted by Annette E. Wetzel 4/98 (awetzel@juno.com) ============================== Charlotte C. H. June 24th 1879 Madam      Enclosed please find certified copy of the marriage bond of Anderson S. Elam. On examination of the Records of my office I could not find that there had been any return of the Marriage License by the Minister who performed the rites of Matrimony, but the bond will answer your purpose, and I hope you will be successful in obtaining your pension.      My fee is 37th. Very respectfully, H. A. Carrington, Clerk "Know all men by these presents that we Anderson S. Elam and Samuel Weatherford, jr. are held and firmly bound unto James Barbour esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in one hundred and fifty Dollars to which payment will and ____ to be made to the said James Barbour and his successors to the use of the Commonwealth we bind ourselves our heirs, or family by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 7th day of February 1814. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage intended to be solomnized between Anderson Elam and Latisha Weatherford, daughter of Samuel Weatherford, of said County who personally gave his consent, if therefore there be no lawful cause to obstruct the same, then this obligation to be void, else to remain of force and virtue, signed & sealed in the presence of John H.
