I Adam Finch of the county of Charlotte do constitute and appoint this my Last will and testament in manner following, that is to say after all my just debts & funeral charges are paid, I lend unto my beloved wife MARY FINCH during her natural life or widowhood the plantation I now live on, and the following Slaves namely, Toney, Carter Jim, Charles City, Jim, Roger, Davey, Amey, Sue, Fanny, Sylvia, Winney, Milley, Cale, Ned, Moses, Sukey, Lucy, Reney, Sarah, Annakey, and Lolly, and all their future increase. Nine head of horses, twenty five head cattle, thirty head sheep, and all my stock of hogs, all my household and kitchen furniture and one copper still, and at her death to be divided vz. I shall hereafter direct. I give bequeath unto my beloved son WM FINCH one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the county of Mecklenburg on Middle Blue Stone Creek containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less, adjoining the land of Hutchens, Burton, Robert Marshall etc to him his heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son THOMAS FINCH part of the tract of land I purchased of WALTON and part of a tract of land I purchased of MARABLE adjoining the said THOMAS FINCH land he purchased of CLAY and others. Beginning at a corner pine on BOYD's line, thence a new line choped (maybe closed ?) to JACOB HERNDON SPRING, thence down the branch to CARGILL's Creek and a corner at a small ash, thence up the Creek along WALTON line, thence to said THOMAS FINCH's line as it meanders to the beignning. also one negro man Sam to him and to his heirs forever. I give unto my beloved son ZACHARIAH FINCH all that tract or parcel of land I now live on which I have lent unto his Mother during her natural life (except what has been laid off for my son THOMAS, & which he is not to possess till after her death -- also one negro Man Job to him and his heirs forever. I give & bequeath unto ELIZABETH P. FINCH daughter of my son EDWARD FINCH dec'd one Negro girl named Patience with her future increase to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto JAMES FINCH, son of EDWARD FINCH deceased one negro boy named John to him and to his heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto WILLIAM FINCH, son of EDWARD FINCH dec'd one negro boy named Daniel to him & his heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto MARY FINCH, daughter of EDWARD FINCH dec'd one negro girl named Phillis with her future increase to her and her heirs forever. And whereas I have formally given to each of my children several negros which are still in their possession, I do now give and bequeath to each of them the said negros to them and to their heirs forever. In the further division of my estate which will take place at the death of my wife, I give and bequeath unto the children of my son EDWARD FINCH dec'd named JOHN FINCH, EDWARD FINCH, ADAM FINCH, JAMES FINCH, POWEL FINCH, ELIZABETH P. FINCH, WILLIAM FINCH & MARY FINCH one sixth part of my estate to them and to their heirs forever. To my son WILLIAM FINCH I give one sixth part of my estate to him and his heirs forever. To the children of my beloved son JOHN FINCH dec'd namely MARY F. FINCH, ADAM FINCH, REBECCA FINCH, JOHN FINCH, AND WILLIAM FINCH I give & bequeath one sixth part of my estate to them and to their heirs forever. To my beloved daughter, ANNE ELLIOTT, wife of MARTIN ELLIOTT, I give & bequest one sixth part of my estate, and her heirs forever. To my son, THOMAS FINCH, I give & bequeath one sixth part of my estate to him & to his heirs forever. To my son, ZACKARIAH FINCH, I give & bequeath one sixth part of my estate at the death of his Mother one copper still to him & to his heirs forever. Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons, THOMAS FINCH and ZACHARIAH FINCH, my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all other wills by me heretofore made. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twelfth day of February one thousand eight hundred. This last will and testament of ADAM FINCH deceased was presented in Court by ZACHARIAH FINCH one of the executors here in named and the same was proved by the oath of ISHAM CHASTAIN and EDMUND HORD two of the witnesses hereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded.
