Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ************************************************************************ I Luther C Jeffress of the County of Charlotte being of sound(sic) and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows First It is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid Second - I give to my Brother Edward H Jeffress out of the concern of Jeffress & Co. keysville the sum of five hundred Dollars, to him and his heirs forever Third - I Give to my Brother Wm H Jeffress out of the concern of Jeffress & Co Keysville the sum of five hundred Dollars to him and his heirs forever - Fourth I give to my Sister Laura C Wilson out of the concern of Jeffress & Co Keysville five hundred Dollars And it is my special request that She invest the said amount in some safe security for her Special benefit Fif th - I give to my sister Mattie E Hardy out of the concern of Jeffress & Co Keysville the Sum of five hundred Dollars, and it is my special request that she in- vest the said sum in some safe security for her Special benefit Sixth - In the event of my interest in the concern of Jeffress & C Keysville should not reach the sum of two thousand Dollars in value, then it is my disire(sic) that said interest should be equally divided among my two Brothers Edward H Jeffress and William H Jeffress and two sisters Laura C Wilson and Mattie E Hardy pro rata Seventh - In the event my interest in the concern of Jeffress & Co Keysville should exceed the sum of two thousand Dollars all such excess I give to my Brother Edward H Jeffress his heirs and assigns forever Eighth it is my will and desire that at the death of my mother Bettie H Overbey that all my interest in the lands now in possession of my said mother Bettie H Overbey be equally divided between my Brothers and Sisters above named, to wit, Edward H Jeffress William H Jeffress Laura C Wilson and Mattie E Hardy to them and their heirs forever Ninth I give to my Brother Wm H Jeffress my gold watch, to him and his heirs forever Tenth - I give to my Brother Edward H Jeffress my Feather Bed now at Keysville to him and his heirs forever Lastly I hereby appoint my Brother Edward H Jeffress my Executor of this my last will and testament and it is my special request that the Court require no security of my Executor above name(d) Witness my hand and seal this 5th day of December 1877 Witnesses L C Jeffress James T Overbey T. Jones In Charlotte County Court January 9 (seal) 1878 The last will and testament of Luther C Jeffress deed was this day produced in Court by Edward H Jeffress the Executor therin named & the same was proved by the oaths of T M Jones & James T. Overbey the two subscribing wit- nesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, thereupon the said Edward H Jeffress took the oath of office and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of five thousand Dollars without Security (the will directing that none should be required) conditioned for the due and faithful discharge of the duties of his said office or trust.
