In the name of God amen. I, JOHN ROACH SEN. of the County of Charlotte being in perfect health and sound memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. First I commend my soul to Gad who gave it In hopes of a joyful ___ . ITEM: I give to my son JAMES ROACH all that tract of land in Pittsylvania whereon he now lives containing 268 acres to be the same more or less. ITEM: I give to my son JOHN ROACH the tract of land whereon he now lives containing 100 acres to be the same more or less. ITEM: I give to my son PRICE ROACH all the tract of land whereon I now live reserving 1 acre for JOHN HARMON which acre is to include his house which acre I give to sd HARMON to his heirs forever. The sd land I give to PRICE ROACH contains 150 acres the same more or less to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my daughter SUSANNAH HADEN a negro girl Sarah, now in her possession to her and her heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my daughter MILLY HARMON a negro girl Charlotte now in her possession to her and her heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my grandson JOSHUA ROACH (son of JOSHUA) a negro boy Henry to be continued in the hands of my executor as a trustee until JOSHUA comes of age or marries but should JOSHUA died without heirs then the boy to return to my children. I give to LIZA ROACH, widow of JOSHUA, 10 shillings. ITEM: I give to my following children: ISAAC ROACH, GABRIEL ROACH, ELISHA ROACH, ELIZABETH SWEPSTON, MOLLY KING, CATHERINE ELAM four negroes Easter, Little Ester, Sally, Fillis and their increase, my stock of all kinds household and kitchen furniture after paying my debts to be sold and equally divided among those last named. ITEM: I give to my daughter NANCY M. JOHNSTON two dollars. ITEM: I constitute and appoint my son JOHN ROACH executor to this my last will and testament.
