She served faithfully as a registered nurse in the Charlottesville area for 35 years. She was widowed by her husband of 53 1/2 years, "Skip," in 2002. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Hewett of Seattle, Washington. Her memory will also be cherished by her five children, Theodore "Ted" Abbott of Redwood City, California, Peggy Abbott of Richmond, Virginia "Ginny" Abbott Little and her husband, Larry, of Richmond, Barbara Abbott Buchanan and her husband, Lee, of Vienna, Virginia, and Bruce Abbott of Richmond. She will also be remembered by her five grandchildren, Steven Little of Brooklyn, New York, Christy Little of Richmond, Bruce Abbott Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Lauren Horcsik and her husband, Brian, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Kim Wright of Redwood City, California. Also surviving are her two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Caydence Horcsik of Wasilla, Alaska. Mrs. Abbott and her husband enjoyed traveling the country in their Winnebago and ballroom dancing together for many years. She was also an avid University of Virginia basketball fan. Mrs. Abbott was a woman who displayed great courage throughout her lifetime. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Lucy Corr Village. Her remains rest at Bliley's - Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007, and where services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. , August 25, 2007. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (for research), 2104 West Laburnum Ave., Suite 102, Richmond, VA 23227; or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (for research), 8001 Franklin Farms Dr., Suite 139, Richmond, VA 23288.
