A native of Norfolk, he was the widower of Alma Claggion , his wife of 40 beautiful years, and retired in 1972 after 30 years as a bus driver for the Federal Government Dept. of Transportation. Mr. Claggion was a member of St. James Methodist Episcopal Church where he was an active, loyal member and trustee until illness. Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Sutton of Norfolk, A. Vanessa Claggion of Newport News, Paulette Claggion Beatty of Virginia Beach, Karen Claggion of Oakland, Calif.; and Alvadine Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sons, William L.C. Claggion of Norfolk, Steven Claggion of Virginia Beach, James Claggion Jr. of Picataway, N.J. and Keith Claggion of Chesapeake; two sisters, Wilma Eley of Norfolk and Rena Monk of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, William Claggion of Burlington, N.J.; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-granchildren; and a cadre of loving family and friends. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his mother, Charles Lolloie Reid and father, Edgar Claggion . A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. James AME Methodist Church, 501 Dinwiddie St., Norfolk, by the Rev. Samuel Wilson with burial in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The procession will depart from 1169 Janaf Place, Norfolk, at 12:30 p.m. Interment services at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Family will receive other family and friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street.
