A native of Norfolk, Berkley Section, he was a retired fork lift operator from the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Silvader P. Claggion of Portsmouth; four daughters, Nenar and husband, Matthew Austin Sr., of Norfolk, Joanne and husband, Willard Adams, of Portsmouth, Denise and husband, Adrian Baker, and Patricia Ann and husband, David Hill, all of Chesapeake; three sons, Pierce Claggion of Rowlett, Texas, Richard and wife, Kathy Claggion , of Chesapeake and Carl Claggion of Arlington, Va.; three sisters, Rena Monk of Brooklyn, N.Y., Catherine Sparrow and Wilma Eley, both of Norfolk; three brothers, James Claggion of Norfolk, Lloyd Claggion of Portsmouth and William Claggion of New Jersey; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Edward J. Wilson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, with military honors.
