CHESAPEAKE - Funeral services for Arthur Whitmore of 1005 Annette street were
conducted Sunday in First Baptist Church, Campostella, by the Rev. Joseph Myers.
 Burial was in Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery with Mosley Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Whitmore, a native of Scotland Neck, NC, died March 29 in a Norfolk hospital
after a short illness.  He was a son of Benjamin H. and Mrs. Priscilla Clark
Whitmore and the husband of the late Mrs. Clara Whitmore.  The deceased, a 
member of First Baptist Church, Campostella, was retired from Norfolk and
Western Railway Coal Piers.

Surviving are three sons, Benjamin H. Whitmore, Lathan Whitmore and Alphonso
Whitmore;  and two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Lathan and Mrs. Ethel Hill of
Chesapeake;  17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
