Chesterfield County DATE: 1810 OWNERS: The Dance Cemetery is called such because it lies on the Dance farm, and also because there are several members of the Dance family buried here. DESCRIPTION: It is situated on a hill within sight of the house. This hill is barren except for a few small trees which stand near the little group of groves. Some of these graves are unmarked; however, the majority of them have tombstones. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The inscriptions are as follows: Father W. E. Gill Born Feb. 10, 1810 Died July 7, 1881 Jesus loves the pure and holy Mother M. F. Gill Born Dec. 25, 1825 Died Oct. 28, 1895 Sweet rest in heaven M. E. Wilkinson Wife of B. H. Wilkinson Born Nov. 3, 1849 Died Aug. 15, 1901 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Father John A. Dance born Dec. 25, 1856 Died ______ On that bright immortal shore We shall meet to part no more Mother Evelyn E. Gill Wife of John A. Dance Born Aug. 26, 1860 Died Oct. 13, 1920 Rest, Mother, rest in quiet sleep, While friends in sorrow o’er thee weep Sweet to meet but hard to part A. J.
