Chesterfield County DATE: 1728 OWNERS: Daniel Johnson and descendants. DESCRIPTION: Dating back to pre-Revolutionary days, this small graveyard is in the center of an open field. Here are two tombstones on either side of a large monument. These are enclosed by strong iron bars or pipes, supported by concrete posts. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Below are given the inscriptions, first on the monument and then the tombstones. Daniel Johnson and Descendants 1728-1820 to 1857 Miss Mary Jane Forloine Born in Chesterfield Va. Feb’y 9th 1824 Died Sept. 12th 1857 My flesh shall slumber in the ground Till the last trumpet’s joyful sound Then burst the charms with sweet surprise And in my Saviour’s image rise. Mary T. Johnson Born in Louisa Co. Feb’y 22nd 1785 Died in Chesterfield Va. June 13th 1844 Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.
