CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Reid Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Reid graveyard: 1936 Apr. 13 Research made by Craig Romaine Cemetery Location: 1 mile north of Route #60, on old Midlothian Turnpike Chesterfield County DATE: Earliest date mentioned 1779. OWNERS: Reid family. DESCRIPTION: This graveyard lies only a few feet from the old Midlothian Turnpike, but so inconspicuous is it, that unless the traveller were looking for such sites, he doubtless would pass unaware of its existence. Obviously the place has received little, if any, attention for a number of years. Vines completely cover the graves, as well as several trees that encircle the small lot. The tombstones, which are erect stone slabs, are of various dimensions, ranging from about six inches to five feet in height, and in some instances it was necessary to remove two or three inches of soil at the base of these tombstones, to secure the entire inscription. Here also is one monument. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions were copied from the tombstones: Mrs. Sarah L.
