CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Strachan-Bucher Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Strachan-Bucher graveyard: 1936 Nov. 17 Research made by Craig Romaine Cemetery Location: 6 miles east, Chester, Virginia. .5 mile southwest Route #37; 1 mile northwest Enon Church Road. Chesterfield County DATE: 1814 OWNERS: John A. Strachan. Dr. Wm. H. Bucher. DESCRIPTION: Almost inaccessible, this graveyard lies in a forest which has been ravaged by fire. It has indeed been neglected, and but for the few tombstones here, one would never recognize it as a graveyard. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Within this forgotten and humble little graveyard lies the body of the Rev. John Alexander Strachan who was responsible for the founding of the Enon Baptist Church, and who the Rev. Moore mentions with deep regard in his “A History of the Middle District Baptist Association”. It has been mentioned elsewhere that the death of Rev. Strachan occured in 1874; however the inscription on his tombstone gives this date as 1875, and this is probably correct. Rev. John A. Strachan Born Jan. 21, 1815 Died Mar. 24, 1875 Emily A.
