Chesterfield County DATE: Approximately 1807 OWNERS: Unknown. DESCRIPTION: This old graveyard, which may be seen from the road is protected by brick walls, Below are the various inscriptions on the many tombstones found here. Sacred to the memory of John Walthall Born October 11th 1793 Died January 31st, 1848 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed for he giveth of his bread to the poor. This slab is erected as tribute of Respect by his two beloved sisters Robert and Lucy B. Children of Archibald W. and Susanna E. Dunn Lucy Burton Dunn Born January 1st, 1855 Died August 14th 1855 Suffer Little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Robert Dunn Born August 1st 1853 Died September 10th, 1856 These lovely buds, so young and fair, Called forth by early doom, Just came to show how sweet some flowers In Paradise would bloom M. W. Fe. 16-1795 A. W. No. 20-1805 Sacred to the memory of My Father Dr. Joseph Dudley, M.D. of Sutton; Worcester Co. Massachusetts Born March 14, 1790 (or 93) Died Sept. 24, 1831 He said in his last moments “Saved by Christ” Sacred to the memory of George W. Caperton Who was born in Monroe County, Virginia July 11th, 1807 and died Feb. 4th 1852 Those who knew him best loved him most and in his last moments he still rejoiced in his Saviour saying he was going to a world of Glory. This tribute of affection is done by the request of his son Edward Hugh. In memory of Lydia Anna Consort of Dr. Wm. A. Dudley born 17th, Nov. 1834 Married 18th Aug. 1852 Died 17th Feby 1855 of consumption Her last words were “Don’t weep for me but Try and meet me in Heaven Good by” She was all that a wife should be, but Oh, God “thy will be done” Sacred to the memory of Martha Imogene consort of Col. Edward and Ann Archer of Chesterfield County Who was born Nov. 5, 1814 married June 14, 1842 and died Feby. 16, 1844 She opened her mouth with wisdom and her tongue was the law of kindness To know her was to love her She sleeps in Jesus In memory of My devoted Mother Elizabethe Wife of Dr. Joseph Dudley and Daughter of Col. Edward and Ann Archer Born May 21, 1810 Died July 3, 1879 She was a devoted mother indeed She was born again of the water And of the spirit. She followed Our Lord and justified God.
