D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty two personally appeared before me Polly Perdue aged sixty seven years a resident of Chesterfield in the state of Virginia who being duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow of Shadrack Perdue deceased who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Whisegar, Coles & Graves in the 1st Battalion in the War with Great Britain declared by the United States the 18 June 1812. That her said husband was drafted at Chesterfield County Court house on or about the 26th day of June A. D. 1813 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months and was honorably discharged at Norfolk, Virginia on the 27th day of December A. D. 1813 as will appear by the muster rolls of said company. She knows of no written discharge received by him and believes he was verbally discharged. She further states that she was married to the said Shadrack Perdue in Chesterfield County on the 10th day of July A. D. 1809 by one Nathan Anderson a clergyman and that her name before her said marriage was Polly Hatchett that her said husband died at his residence on the 7th day of July A. D. 1819 and that she is still a widow. She further states she has no record of the time of his discharge nor is there any of the time of his death of the aforesaid Shadrack Perdue. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act passed September 29th, 1850. Witnesses Peter F. Lester Affidavit of Witnesses State of Virginia County of Chesterfield On this 22nd day of December A. D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty two personally appeared before me Justice of the Peace within and for the State and county aforesaid Mary F. Beasley, Solomon Baugh and Tabetha Hatchet residents of the State of Virginia and County of Chesterfield who being duly sworn according to law declare that Polly Perdue is the widow of Shadrack Perdue deceased who was a Private in the company commanded by Captain Whiseger, Coles & Graves to their belief in the regiment of (blank)commanded by (blank)in the war with Great Britain. That the said Polly Perdue was married to the said Shadrack Perdue deceased in Chesterfield County, VA in the State of Virginia on or about the 10th day of July A. D. 1809 by one Nathan Anderson before her marriage aforesaid was Polly Hatchett that her husband the said Shadrack Perdue died at his residence on the 7th day of July 1819 and she is still a widow. That they lived in the immediate neighborhood of the aforesaid Shadrack Perdue in his life time and Polly Perdue and well know that they lived together as husband and wife and was so considered in law and by all who knew them we further state we saw them married on or about the time above stated and they swear that they are disinterested witnesses. Lester whose genuine signature appears to the foregoing declaration and affidavit is and was at the time of signing the same Justice of the Peace in and for the Couty and State aforesaid duly commissioned and sworn that all his official acts as such are entitled to full faith and credit; and that the aforesiad County Court is a Court of Record having general jurisdiction.
