Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Pine Camp Church of God of Prophecy for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer Hayes; her parents, Marcus and Martha Hayes Duty; three sons, Denver Hayes, Dwight Hayes and Norman Hayes; four sisters, Belva Trent, Rendy Turner, Dolly Mullins and Minnie Meade; and three brothers, Garland Turner, John Duty and Swin Duty. Survivors include one son, Vaughn D. Hayes of St. Paul; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in the Lord. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Pine Camp Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Curtis Bond and Rev. Danny Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Hayes Cemetery on Sandy Ridge. Visitation will be held at Pine Camp Church of God of Prophecy on Wednesday after 6 p.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
