The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net Elizabeth Archer Will - July 3, 1785 In the name of God amen, I, Elizabeth Archer of the County of Chesterfield, being of sound mind and memory thanks to Almighty God for the same, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following. Viz:. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter, Agnes Downman, one Negro named Jane to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter, Martha Field Walthall, one Negro named Ritter, to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter, Mary Archer, one Negro named Priss and one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. Item: I lend unto Edward Archer and William Downman and George Robertson for my daughter, Elizabeth Moseley, during her natural life and for no other use or purpose whatsoever one Negro named Pheby and after the death of my said daughter, I give and bequeath the said Negro and all her future increase to be divided among all her children then living to them and their heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my grandson, James Robertson, one Negro named Letty to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my granddaughter, Elizabeth Osborne Downman, one Negro named Seludy to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my granddaughter, Elizabeth Osborne Moseley, one Negro named Silva to her and her heirs forever, but if my said granddaughter should die under age or unmarried, then I give the said Negro to my granddaughter, Martha Moseley, and her heirs forever. Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my three granddaughters, Martha Field Robertson, Martha Field Walthall, and Martha Field Downman, all my ready money I may have by me and all the money due me by Bond or otherwise to be divided equally among them and their heirs forever. Item: My will and desire is that the residue of my estate not already given be equally divided among my five daughters, viz.: Agnes, Martha Field, Michal, Elizabeth and Mary, to them and their heirs forever. Item: I desire that my estate not be appraised and I do nominate, constitute and appoint Edward Archer, William Downman, and George Robertson executors of this my will. In witness whereof, I have set my hand and seal the third day of July one thousand seven hundred and eighty-five.
