The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net Field Archer Deed - December 15, 1780 Know all men by these presents that I, Field Archer, of the County of Chesterfield for the good will, love and affection which I hath and doth bear to my son-in-law, William Walthall, husband of my daughter, Martha Field of the same county and for the further consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money, to me in hand, by the said William Walthall at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and discharge the said William Walthall, his heirs, executors and administrators, every of them, I the said Field Archer have granted, bargained, sold and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said William Walthall, his heirs and assigns forever, eleven Negroes, viz: Dickey, Phill, Jack, Daphney, Fanny, Jinney, Effie, Liddy, Lucy, Juddy, and Seludy and all their increase as aforesaid unto the said William Walthall, his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said William Walthall, his heirs and assigns forever. And I, the said Field Archer, doth by these presents promise for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend the said eleven Negroes and their increase as aforesaid unto the said William Walthall, his heirs and assigns forever against me, the said Field Archer, and all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming by, through or under me, I the said Field Archer will by these presents warrant and forever defend. In witness whereof I the said Field Archer have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of December one thousand seven hundred eighty.
