In the name of God amen I Thomas Edwards of the Parish of Dale & County of Chesterfield being weak of Body but of perfect sense & memory but knowing the uncertainty of this Life do make this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following. Item. I give to my Wife Mary Edwards the use of my Plantation containing one hundred & twenty five Acres of Land more or less as long as she remains a Widow and then I give & bequeath the said Plantation to my Son William Edwards to him & his Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath to my Son Thomas Edwards a negro Girl named Dinah to him & his Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary Edwards a Negro Boy named Frank & a Chest that belonged to her Mother to her & her Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath to my Daughter Martha Ashbrook a Negro Girl named M_____r to her & her Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath to my Daughter Phebe Baugh a Negro Girl nam'd. Agge to her & her Heirs forever. Item. I give to my Wife Mary Edwards the Labour of Hanner Ned & Gean as long as she remains a Widow & then I give & bequeath Ned to my Son Thomas Edwards to him & his Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath Hanner to be equally divided between my first five Children Thomas Peter Mary Martha & Phebe to them & their Heirs forever. Item. I give & bequeath Gean & her increase to my five Children Sarah Prisilia Elizabeth Obedience & William to be equally divided between them when my Son William shall arrive to the Age of twenty one years to them & their Heirs forever & if either of the said Children should die without a lawful heir the said Negroes shall be equally divided between the Survivors. Item. I give & bequeath all the remainder part of my Estate Stock & Household Furniture to be divided between my Wife Mary Edwards & my Son William Edwards when William comes of Age to them & their Heirs forever My Will & Desire is that my Estate shall not be appraised. Item.
