In the name of God Amen. I Robert Rudd of the County of Chesterfield and State of Virginia do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (I.E.) My will is that my body be decently intered after my death and all my funeral expenses paid, and then I give to my son John Edward Rudd my sorrel colt called Polly Hopkins. Secondly I loan to my wife Polly Rudd all the balance of my estate both real and personal of every nature and description whatsoever which I may die possessed of during her natural life but she the said Polly die before my small children are raised my estate must be kept together until they are raised and then my will further is that after the death of her my said wife should she live to raise the small children or should she not live to raise them, after they are raised, I give all the property above named to my children all of them to share alike in every thing both real and personal. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Polly Rudd sole executrix to this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disannulling all former wills and testaments made by me. Flourno_ Josiah Bailey In Chesterfield County Court, August 14,1837. The foregoing last will and testament of Robert Rudd deceased was presented in Court and proved by the oath of Eldridge W. Flourno_ and Josiah Bailey subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded. On the motion of Polly Rudd, executrix in the said will named, who entered into bond with security conditioned as the law directs, and took the oath required by law, a Certificate is granted her for obtaining probat thereof in due form.
