Letter to James Patton, Esq., Alexandria, Va., Grant, Meek and Stewart, (Jamaica) May 21, 1806 Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Debra Miller This collection of letters, bills etc. were sent to James Patton, Esq., Merchant in the old seaport of Alexandria, Va. The letters will encompass the latter 1700s - early 1800s. James Patton was b. ca. 1755 in Newton, Lima-Verry, County Derry, Ireland and he died in Alexandria, Va, date unknown at this time. He married Mollie Kincaid, place and date unknown. His parents were James Patton, Sr. (b. ca. 1734, Ireland, d. Jan. 16, 1821, Pennsylvania) and Mary Newell (b. ca. 1736 Ireland, d. June 7, 1806, Alexandria, Va.). {Duplicate} Kingston, Jamaica, 21st May 1806 James Patton Esquire Dear Sir, In conformity with our Letter of the 29th instant per the Brig Sparrow, we have now to hand you Account Sales of the Flour and Corn (per Brig Columbia) you consigned to our Address, nett Proceeds amounting to £483,19,5 remitted you by return of the Vessell as pr Captain McCobb's Bill of Lading for the same enclosed, and which we hope will get safe to hand --- The Crackers by this Vessel we have not been able to dispose of to remit proceeds by her return, we shall however do so as soon as possible.
