He married Mollie Kincaid, place and date unknown. His parents were James Patton, Sr. (b. ca. 1734, Ireland, d. Jan. 16, 1821, Pennsylvania) and Mary Newell (b. ca. 1736 Ireland, d. I am sorry to inform you nothing could be done on your note & (letter torn) I did not offer it as I found the Bank curtailing & as the Board have determined to continue to do so for some time, I return it. I am glad to hear the Shippers p. Hero have hopes of recovering something, but am astonished too, Armstrong should have advised against a Compromise which I think I certainly should have accepted had I been in Hendersons place. I thought B&H (Burke & Herbert?) had some money & expected to have sent you 1500 or 2000$ until Tuesday when we have 4000$ to pay but upon looking into state of our Bank we find we have not two $ unless Esea(?) will get better, we shall continue very poor & be obliged to borrow all we can get ourselves of the Banks. Yrs. Truly Washington Bower
