He was a native of Alexandria, the son of Robert Jackson, born in Union Street, near Duke, about sixty-seven years ago. He resided in that neighborhood, except during the war, when he enlisted in the Seventeenth Virginia Regiment, all his life. His father was the principal pump and block maker of Alexandria, and the son pursued that calling more or less. He was not successful in his later years and dwelt in one of the old houses that had been owned by his father in the early part of the last century. There he sickened and was cared for by the old Confederates here and by them carried several weeks ago to the Alexandria Hospital. He was an honest, faithful man, and everyone he knew was his friend. He will be buried by the R. E. Lee Camp, Confederate Veterans.
