CRAIG COUNTY, VA - WILLS - Thomas Reynolds, 15 October 1803 ----¤¤¤---- Will of Thomas Reynolds Botetourt County, Virginia Will Book B, Page 81-83 Proved: December 1804 In the name of God Amen; I Thomas Reynolds of Botetourt County being in my proper sense and Memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same and knowing the unsertainty of this earthly life do make and declare this my last Will & Testament &c. In primis I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Ann Reynolds all my whole property now in Botetourt Coty lying in whose hands or custody the same may be found to her and at her disposal to whom of her children (she my said wife) shall think proper at her decease and what she has in her possession in Madison County to the same with as above mentioned. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Reynolds my Shot Gun wch he has now in his possession it being all that he my sd. Eldest Son or any of his Heirs shall ever get or inherit of my Estate forever; likewise if he my Son John Reynolds should produce a Bond (as I think he has in keeping) wch he will say he had of me there wth (he got the Bond faudalent) and I desire my Executors hereafter named should prosecute him my said Son John Reynolds. Item, I give and bequeath to my Son Henry Byne Reynolds my two Negro Boys Viza Isaac & Jacob after his Mother's decease to him and his Heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Loyd my Negro Girl Mima after my wifes decease to her and her Heirs forever she my said Daughter Sarah paying her Sister Betty McGee Ten pounds for the good of her Children. Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Pattie King my Negro Girl Easter after my Wife Ann Reynolds decease to her and her Heirs forever she my said Daughter Pattie paying to her sister Betty McGee two pounds current money for the good of her children. Item, I lend unto my Daughter Betty Magee after my wifes decease my Negro woman Mille and her increase to her my said Daughter Betty Magee after my wife Ann Reynolds decease as own property to her own use, but if in case her Husband Samuel Magee should become bandrupt them my Exectors heareafter mentioned shall be impowered to take the said Negro woman and her increase into their possession and them to keep and make what advantage they can for the benefit of my said Daughter Betty Magee's Children. This my last will and Testament shall inpower them so to do. Lastly I comititute my loving wife Ann Reynolds Excutrix and my Son Henry Byne Reynolds my son in law Thomas Loyd and my friend and neighbor Zachariah Hendrickson Excutors of this my last Will and Testament revoking & making void all other wills by me formerly made. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this fifteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and three. Be it known unto all men by these presents that I Thomas Reynolds of Botetourt have made and declared my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the day of October last. I the said Thomas Reynolds do by these presents Codicil confirm and Ratifie my said last Will and do give and bequeath unto my Grandson John Given and Ann his wife my Mulatto Girl named Tillah to him and his Heirs forever also I give and Bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Nancy Ann Taylor my Mulatto Girl named Hap to her and her Heirs forever. But it is my desire that the above mentioned Mulatto Girls be kept in the hands of one or more of my Executors until the above named Grand Children arrive to age or Marry. And my meaning is that this Codicil or Schedule be and be adjoined to be a part & parcal of my sd last will & Testament and all things here in inforth fully kept and performed in as full & ample manner in every respect as if the same were so declaired and set down in my said Will. Thomas came from Caroline or Madison County to live with son John ca. 1786/87. This Reynolds family lived in Botetourt County on the upper reaches of Sinking Creek.
