CRAIG COUNTY, VA - WILLS - John Reynolds, 10 April, 1844 ----¤¤¤---- Will of John Reynolds Giles County, Virginia Will Book B, Page 390 Proved: September 1845 In the name of God Amen I John Reynolds of the County of Giles and state of Virginia being weak and frail in body but of sound and disposing memory and mind doe make this my last will and Testament revoking all others. First it is my will that all my just debts and Funeral expences be paid as soon after my death as convenant. Secondly I give and bequeath to my Loving wife Susannah all the house hold and kitchen furnature to dispose of as she sees proper and the choice one of 8 head of catle and one gray mare by the name of snap and the privaledge of having the dwelling house during her natural Life and all the hogs that I own and the choice of 8 or nine head of sheep and all the money that is due me by Bonds or accounts or any other way I give her one Equal part of it with my children. My slave (Matilda?) at the decease of my wife is to go to my Two daughters. Thirdly I give and bequeath to the heirs of my sone James the tract of Land where my sone James now resides. Fourthly I give my sone James up all the notes and receits and accounts that he is due me. Fifthly I give and bequeath my Eight day wooden clock to my sone Joseph also one gray mare named Coly. Sixthly I give and bequeath to my sons John(,) Andrew and Joseph Reynolds all my Land where on I now reside and where my sone John now resides and Each one is to have where they now Live and devide the land amonghst them selves. John's wife was Susannah Taylor, d. ca 1847, d/o George Taylor and Mary Charlton. John & Susannah Reynolds lived in the Sinking Creek Valley, Montgomery County, the part that became Giles County, and is now Craig County. John mentions two daughters, they were: Nancy & Mary A. "Polly" Reynolds. Mary m. George Stafford Williams one of the executors of the will. John & Susannah are reported by others to have also had sons Alexander and William.
