Culpeper County This cemetery seems a long way from civilization as the way it is reached is by a long road through the woods which comes out in a field grown up in bushes. After crossing some cultivated fields and a ditch over which is a ford, one comes to a grove of trees which shelters the graveyard. There are many unmarked graves here, and some are marked with plain field stones not inscribed. There is only one that bears any inscription. Because of the fact that only one of the stones bear any inscription it is thought that this cemetery was where slaves were buried, although some think that white people are buried here also. The stone that is inscribed is very crudely carved as if done by hand. No one knows whose initials these are. The land belonged to the Fishbacks, but no one knows whose graves these are or what letters are on this stone. I F K D E d Nov. 23, 1827 A g E 8
