Pleasant cemetery: 1937 Mar. 15 Research made by Margaret Jeffries Cemetery Location: .9 miles north of Rixeyville, Va. on Rt. #29; thence west of Rt. #29 about one mile on private road. Culpeper County This cemetery is located about a mile through a field from the public road. It is in the midst of a grove of trees and is not molested in any way. However, the stones are very much weather-stained and broken and pieces of them seem to be missing. In fact it is very hard to read any of the inscriptions. Many of the stone which should be here are gone and many other are out of place. Here are the graves of Captain William Rixey’s first wife, Mary Louise (Brent) Rixey and those of several of their children. One of these is Silas Hunton Rixey who died on July 1, 1837 in the 13th year of his age. Another is that of a daughter, Almira, who died in her third year. A footstone marked M.L.R. which should be at the grave of Mary Louise (Brent) Rixey is out of place. There is a footstone marked O.M.N. which is believed to be intended for Olivia Mortimer Rixey, second wife of L.P. Nelson. Another footstone marked C.B.R. or C.E.R. is believed to be that of George Brent Rixey. It is known that others are buried here but there are no stones to be found.
