Know ye that I the said Henry Field of the parish of Saint Marks in the County of Culpeper in the state of Virginia Do Constitute & appoint & hereby do by these present Constitute & appoint my son Daniel Field, Thomas Allen, Daniel Field Jun. & William Powel & Daniel James, as my agents & Commissioners all or any three, to sell at Publick Auction my mountain Estate in Bromfield Parish (to wit) Five tracts of Land namely the old Quarter including two Tracts where Joshua Pilsher lived, another Tract on the Hazel river known by the name of the New Design, another D?. [tract] on the Great Wilderness known by the name of Thomas Gardners Place , another D?.[tract] called Eastham seat where the Quarter now is. Also Fourteen Negroes, Toby-Old Phyllis his wife & Abram a sucking child must be sold together. Joefry ?, Sam, Nan, Venus, young Phillis, Peter, Tom, Mary, Rose & her two children, all my stock of Cattle & Hoggs & all the personal Estate (Tobacco Excepted) - Together with a Trundle Bedstead, Bed & Boulster, a pair of new Cart Wheels, the Ballance of the Flock of Sheep, the Black mares Colt, also thirty two pound- nine shilling & three pence Current money in the Hands of William Parfist by making him a Deed on payments of the said money, the said Commissioners are Hereby authorised & Impowered to act & sell all the above mentioned Estate Except the Hands working in the Crop which they are to assist in finishing; and when the Crop is finished & sold with all that appertains to my Estate in trusted in the above said Commissioners Hands the monies thence arising from the said sales shall be Equally Divided into five parts (I.e.) My Daughter Mary James, my Daughter Esther Allen, my son Daniel Field , my Grand Daughter Sarah Powel , But in that case William Powel the Husband of the said Sarah Powel, my Grand Daughter shall give Bond with approved security to Deliver that money or any part thereof for the succour and support of my Daughter Eliza Stewart if need so require, otherwise it shall be theirs or their Heirs & assigns forever, the other fifth to my Grand Daughter Sarah Field ,youngest child of my son Henry Field, Dec'd, its alloted for her but if she should die in Infancy before she arive to the age of Eighteen that then it shall be the right & claim of the next youngest Child, otherwise it shall remain hers or her Heirs & assigns forever, But my Daughter in Law, Mary Field may have the Priviledge of that part Last Bequeathed provided she give bond with Lawfull surety, otherwise my Executors must lodge it in Court as orphans Estate. Know ye that I the said Henry Field of the Parish of St. Marks in the County of Culpeper in the state of Virginia for & in consideration of the natural love, good will & affection which I have & do Bear towards my loving Daughter Dianna Stanton. I give unto my Daughter Diana all my Land and Plantation whereon I now do live. Together with Eight negroes namely Bob, Joe, Caleb, Jude, Katy, Price, Jane, Bett & her child Francis, six Horses, kind, Buck, Emry, young Emry, Black, a sorrel mare & her Colt also forty Hoggsheads of Corn in the Ears of the present years Crop & one thousand weight of Tobacco for her present supply, also fourteen Head of Choice Sheep from my Flock, all my stock of Cattle & Hoggs belonging [to] the said Plantation as above given, I give unto her all my Household Furniture in ever particular whatever, Except a Trundle Bedstead & Bed & Boulster, Kitchen Dairy & milk house Furniture with the appurtenances of the Cellar (Viz) Casks & Scather Together with the necessary Tools belonging to the Field such as Hoes, ploughs, Traces, axes & The lands negroes Personal Estate in every particular whatsoever, I hereby freely & graciously give unto her the said Dianna Stanton her Heirs & assigns forever from the Date of these presents. Also I give unto her Grandson Stanton Slaughter (whom she raised in Infancy with me) my Negroe boy Harry - after my Decease. In Witness hereof that I do freely give the above mentioned negroes with their future Increases & the Land aforesaid to the Intent above mentioned without any manner of Condition, I have hereunto set my Name & seal this the 12th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety.
